It is my great pride to have De La Salle College of Jerusalem on the web. Through our website, it is possible for every visitor to recognize our historical school, which has been serving Palestinian students and the message of educationin, in faithful manners since 1878.

Location
De La Salle College of Jerusalem is located few meters away from the New Gate in East Jerusalem on Freres Road.

History of the College
1874: Brother Evagre comes from Egypt as a pilgrim and begins a study on the possible Lasallian College in Jerusalem
1877: April 27 : The first stone of the College is laid on the present site, on a land granted by the Latin Patriarchate. The building had two stories (see photo)
1878: October 15 : Inauguration of the College with 5 Brothers and 150 pupils
1882: 238 pupils attend the courses in the College. In the same year the College Saint Joseph is opened in Jaffa and in 1884 the Brothers take the responsibility in Haifa of the School, which was previously run by the Carmelite Fathers.
1893: The Lasallian Provincial Center is built on the highest hill of Bethlehem. In the same year the School of Nazareth is also opened
1897: In Jerusalem the pupils are185, in Jaffa 214, in Haifa 217, in Nazareth 158
1901: Brother Evagre, the Founder of de La Salle College in Jerusalem and of some other Lasallian Schools, becomes the Provincial Superior (Visitor) of the District of Holy Land
1917: During the first World War the College is occupied by the Turkish army and the Chapel of the School is used as a Tribunal
1996: Brother Noel Sakr is appointed Director of the De La Salle College of Jerusalem
1997: Brother Miguel Quecan, formerly Director of the Community of the Brothers, goes to Bayadeya on the Nile, as new Director of the local Community and animator of English Courses
1999: Brother Jean-Claude Hérault goes to Beirut as Director of the Formation Center of the young Brothers of the Near East District.
